President and Chief Executive Officer, Director
Darren Hall has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry with a track record of increasing production, reducing costs, improving capital effectiveness, and promoting health, safety and business excellence. Mr.Hall has previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Kirkland Lake Gold, which acquired Newmarket Gold, where he also served as the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Newmarket Gold, Mr.Hall worked for Newmont Mining Corporation where he held roles of increasing responsibility throughout the organization for almost 30 years. Mr.Hall graduated with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Hons) from the Western Australia School of Mines in Kalgoorlie.
Senior VP and Chief Financial Officer
David Splett is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 30 years of senior level experience in the resource industry, working in Canada, Mexico, and Latin America. Prior to joining Calibre Mining, Mr.Splett was the CFO of Elevation Gold. He has also held the position of CFO Latin America for Goldcorp Inc., where Mr.Splett was responsible for strategy, policy implementation and optimization within the Latin American region. Preceding Goldcorp, he was Vice President of Finance at Mosaic Corporation, and has also worked at Minera Panama SA, Teck Resources, and Potash Corporation. Mr.Splett holds degrees in Economics and Administration from the University of Regina, a Master of Arts, Management Systems from the University of Hull in the UK, as well as an MBA from Queens University in Ontario.
Senior VP Corporate Development and Investor Relations
Ryan King has over 15 years of experience in increasingly senior capacities in capital markets in the resource sector. Mr.King was previously responsible for leading the investor relations activities for Newmarket Gold, as the company completed a $2 billion transformational merger with Kirkland Lake Gold. Before joining Newmarket Gold, he was involved in starting Terrane Metals which owned the Mount Milligan Copper-Gold Project in British Columbia, Canada. From 2006 to 2010, Mr.King was involved in financing, corporate development, and investor relations for Terrane Metals as well as assisting with the acquisition of Terrane Metals in 2010 by Thompson Creek for $800 million. He brings an established approach to business in the natural resource sector, with specific and targeted applications for delivering shareholder value in the mining industry. During his career, he has assisted in raising $350 million for previous companies. Mr.King holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Royal Roads University in British Columbia, Canada. He currently sits on the Board of Newcore Gold and Edgewater Exploration Ltd.
VP Human Capital
Jason Gregg has over 20 years of experience as a human resource professional. Prior to joining the Calibre team, Mr.Gregg served as Executive Vice President, Human Resources for Alio Gold. Before Alio Gold, he was the Vice President of HR, Safety and Environment for Newmarket Gold. Before joining Newmarket, Mr.Gregg provided HR consulting services to various mining organizations as well as other industries, including forestry and technology. Prior to developing his consulting practice, he worked as a Human Resources executive in the mining industry with Farallon Mining and Nyrstar. Mr.Gregg has also held senior level human resource roles with HDI, International Forest Products, Canadian Forest Products, and Teck. Mr.Gregg holds a BBA (1995) and an MBA (2000) from Simon Fraser University.
Petri Salopera has over 20 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in the fields of sustainability, external relations, social performance, and corporate social responsibility. Mr.Salopera has held senior executive positions at Goldcorp, Rio Tinto, BHP and most recently as Country Manager - Ecuador and Chile for Newcrest Mining. Mr.Salopera brings extensive field experience in Latin America on community relations, environment, sustainability, government relations and media. His wide range of expertise also includes other private sector entities, academia, and non-governmental organizations. Mr.Salopera obtained a Masters in Anthropology, Development and Latin American Studies from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and other postgraduate studies from the Sustainable Minerals Institute, University of Queensland, Australia.
Senior VP Growth
Tom Gallo has over 10 years of experience in the mining industry as a Project Geologist and Research Analyst. Prior to joining the Calibre team, Mr.Gallo was Vice President Equity Research at Canaccord Genuity, where he covered a variety of small cap mining companies in the precious metal sector. In 2020 Mr.Gallo was ranked in the top five Canadian equity analysts by TipRanks Market Research. Prior to becoming a top ranked mining analyst, he worked with what was then known as St. Andrews Goldfields (now Agnico Eagle Mining), where Mr.Gallo held various roles in the geology group, focused primarily on the Holt/Holloway mines. He and his team were responsible for the delineation of over 1Moz of gold resources in all categories. Mr.Gallo holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario.
VP Nevada Operations
Andy Britton has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry including 20 years of management experience in mine operations, maintenance, environmental, and administration. Mr.Britton also has extensive knowledge of site environmental compliance, reclamation, auditing, and mine closure. From 2011 until May 2016, Mr.Britton worked in a variety of positions for Midway Gold that were key to advancing the permitting, project development, technology implementation and operations of the Pan Mine. Prior to working with Midway Gold, he worked for Quadra-FNX, BHP Nevada Mining, and Rio Tinto at the Denton-Rawhide mine. In addition to his Nevada experience, Mr.Britton’s international experience includes the early planning and implementation of the business technology infrastructure for Quadra Mining’s Franke property in Chile. With strong ties to, and significant participation within the local community of White Pine County, Nevada, Mr.Britton is responsible for the operations and management of our Nevada properties. Mr.Britton has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Governors University and a degree in Management of Information Systems from Great Basin College.
VP Nicaraguan Operations
David Hendriks has over 25 years of experience in operations and project development within the mining industry where he has demonstrated success managing competing priorities, complex situations, and safely improving asset performance through team-based culture change and optimization implementation. Prior to joining Calibre, Mr.Hendriks was the VP and General Manager of Kinross Gold’s Tasiast mine in Mauritania Africa preceded by the same role at the Round Mountain mine in Nevada.?Previously, he worked in Chile, Argentina, Canada, and the USA for Corona/Homestake/Barrick and Rayrock in progressively more responsible engineering and production roles. As an owner/operator of a successful small business in Nevada for eight years, Mr.Hendriks has strong ties to the local community. Mr.Hendriks holds a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mine Engineering from Queens University in Ontario Canada.
